To
be very honest, even the best HR managers fail as a hiring manager. Are you
doing it rightly? Recognizing right talent is an innate skill that comes with
experience, but there are some scrambles that recruiters make during the
process, that fails them sometimes.
Sometimes,
while conducting the recruitment process for a Job X, you might find the
candidate suitable for Job Y, and you communicate the same to him/her. This
probably fails you as a good recruiter. It is because while making the hiring
for a job profile, you must concentrate on getting that opening closed as soon
as possible. However, if you find someone that is suitable for other profile,
you can keep the resume and contact him//her later.
If
you fail to do so, you only end up lengthening the process without making any
productive progress. Changing direction consistently with the basic objective
also proves you to be a failed manager.
Do
you keep your candidate waiting for about a week after he has sent an
application? This is absolutely a WRONG approach! If you feel the candidate has
potential, then GO GRAB him. If you don’t get them, then might be your
competitor will take him. Don’t worry about your reputation and company’s
prestige, it’s all intact! Rather will multiply if you get the best candidate
in the organization.
These are little things that need to be taken care of by a hiring manager. A Recruitment Management System can definitely help you as within the system, the resource requests can be generated along with providing the necessary job roles that are expected with the new resource. This will make your vision more clear and will help you make better hiring!
